HUME from Umbrella Company sits in the liminal space between delay and reverb, blending these boundaries to create a unique sonic palette. The magic of the pedal comes from the F&V slider. This control morphs from delay to a reverb, smearing and transforming the boundaries of your sounds. Time and Decay affect the temporal aspects of the effect. They work in tandem to control delay time, reverb room size, and the overall length of the sound in the buffer, all the way up to a near infinite sustain. The Flashback switch selects the direction of the playback. Playing your sound back forward, reverse, and flipping between reverse and forward. The pedal operates in one of three AUX modes, set by switch and activated by the AUX footswitch. Tap Tempo mode turns the AUX footswitch into a tempo control, synchronizing the timing of HUME to the spacing between taps on the switch. The Time knob acts as a tempo subdivision control, dividing the tap length into note intervals. Circulation mode captures and recirculates the audio held in the delay buffer. Any changes to HUME's parameters won't affect the sound until you turn Circulation, immediately jumping to new parameter settings. Morphing mode moves between the current state of the physical controls on the pedal and a state saved in memory, smoothly shifting to a preset and back based on the AUX switch and the expression pedal/CV input jack. HUME includes a TRS MIDI input that puts all the pedal controls under MIDI CC control, and unlocks access to extra pitch shifting parameters not included on the front panel. Umbrella Company's HUME moves across boundaries of space, time, and texture, synthesizing soundscapes and morphing timescales.
