Tubbutec Brainstep Controller

The Brainstep Controller from Tubbutec is an expander for their formidable Brainstep sequencer, providing immediate physical control over accent, ADSR, and LFO parameters. While Brainstep's expansive feature set is great for controlling a large, multi-voice patch, many of its parameters are within menus that can be challenging to access during live performance. Brainstep Controller brings the brains of your musical operation directly within tweaking distance, letting you make quick changes on the fly to create dramatic musical developments during performance. Connection is simple, with a 3.5mm TRS MIDI input and output. This lets you connect the output of the Brainstep Controller to your Brainstep while still using an external MIDI controller via the MIDI input, which is merged with the Brainstep Controller for a simple and satisfying set-up.

Across the panel, Brainstep Controller lets you adjust the levels of sources sent to outputs A and B, including level, LFO, ADSR, and accent amounts in the two Mixer sections. Between these, a glide control is available for instant acid baseline slides and more. Below these, comprehensive control for both A and B LFOs, envelopes, and accents let you fine tune the response and dynamics of your sequences. This functionality is layered for each of the four tracks, and one or multiple tracks may be selected via the buttons at the right of the module. LEDs on each parameter's fader provide insight into their current states, and similarly parameter changes can be visualized on the main module display in the Brainstep's configuration menu. Tubbutec's Brainstep is a genius way to control a large and complicated patch, and the Brainstep Controller is its perfect companion - bringing the cerebral complexity out into the world to provide intuitive control in each and every musical expression.
