With the Rooster 2, Thermionic Culture has created an exemplary 2-channel all-valve preamplifier with EQ and distortion parameters. In addition to transparent dynamic control and harmonic distortion, the Rooster is capable of a dizzying array of tones from clean to brazen, making it suitable for a variety of applications.

Rooster 2's preamp section is able to provide extra gain to line, mic, or DI signals. There’s also switchable 48V Phantom Power for use with condenser mics. The unit’s Attitude section offers direct control over the distortion by the Rooster’s 5725 tube, which is identical to the one found in the circuit of their Culture Vulture tube distortion unit. Consequently, the Rooster excels in the production of 2nd order harmonics in Triode mode, and 3rd order harmonics when in Pentode mode. This handy feature gives users an effective means of managing both tone and dynamics while simultaneously offering ample avenues for additional distortion.
