Thermionic Culture Fat Bustard II LE
Inject warmth and life into your mixes with the Fat Bustard II LE from Thermionic Culture, a limited edition green version of their all-valve, 14-channel summing mixer with loads of goodies for coloring your mixes. At the forefront, all inputs are at line level and either completely own a channel to themselves or are paired together in a stereo pair. Four of the mono channels feature independent panning controls, while the two auxiliary inputs can either be hard-panned or centered. On top of the inputs, all channels and effects can be individually brought in or out of the entire mix to reduce any chance of unwanted noise as well as utilize the Fat Bustard II LE to its fullest potential.
Through the summing process, all of Fat Bustard II LE's inputs meet an EQ, a spatializer, and a harmonic saturation effect to sculpt and liven your final sum. The EQ offers both cuts and lifts on the top and bottom ends of the spectrum, carving and creating interesting spectral shapes for honing your final sound. The stereo spread not only dials in how wide your mix should be, but also takes into consideration the overall left/right balance, how it affects the frequency spectrum, and how it shifts around the bass frequencies with even a fully sum to mono option. To add further harmonic depth to your mix, Fat Bustard II's Attitude selection consists of six independent and highly usable harmonic enhancers for creating rich and filling mixes.
The balanced version of the Fat Bustard II LE applies balanced transformers on the outputs while still having "floating" ground inputs for a more pure and unbalanced take on the incoming signals. Additionally, the LE version provides not only an extended frequency response in both directions, but it also lowered the noise floor to at least -103dB, making it highly desirable for final mixes while still getting the oomph and shape from the processing. With an independent monitoring path that can A/B between internal and external signals, the Fat Bustard II LE is a fantastic choice for those looking for a killer summing tool with tasteful coloration.
