Syntonie Détail

Soften and sharpen to your heart's content with Détail from Syntonie, a video synthesis filter module inspired by vintage video detailers that uses low pass and high pass filters to enhance or blur incoming video signals. Taking in a wide range of composite and component video formats, Détail automatically detects and selects the correct format for your signal, making it easy to get started right away. A switch sets functionality between blurring or sharpening modes, which share voltage controlled parameters in either filter mode.

Sharp mode uses a high pass filter to enhance the fine details in an image, enabling edge feedback effects with negative resonance, while positive resonance with Composite signals allows for hue aberrations as the cutoff approaches the subcarrier frequency. Conversely, Blur mode uses low pass filtering, removing details in the image with unique ghastly effects possible using negative resonance. In either filter mode, controls are provided for resonance, dry/wet balance, and cutoff frequency, which spans from 1MHz to 10MHz. For each CV input on Détail's panel, an attenuverter is provided, perfect for finding those sweet spots in a modulation.

In addition to pre and post filter outputs for luma-based processing and feedback applications, there is also a main video output. An additional switch allows you to separate chroma and luma signals for when you need to process luma only, increasing the versatility for different formats and use cases.
