The Synthetic Sound Labs Tube VCA / Timbral Gate uses a low voltage tube inspired by 1950's Soviet technology to deliver a premium VCA with fuzzy tube warmth and saturation. The low voltage tube provides the same soft clipping coloration as their high voltage counterparts, without the need for power hungry circuitry that weighs heavily on your case's power supply. As a VCA, the module works wonderfully for modulation and amplitude management, but truly excels at creating organic note shapes which roll off timbral complexity as a note fades in amplitude, providing similar functionality to a low pass gate. The Tube VCA's unique saturation and drive stages are also powerful processors on their own, giving you two stages of drive with the second featuring the ability to drive into wailing self-oscillation. Adding an extra touch of vintage charm, the tube is lit up with blue and red LEDs, invoking the cozy aesthetics of its high voltage predecessors.
