Soleil from Synthetic Sound Labs is an ultra compact, lo-fi MIDI string synthesizer inspired by early vintage string synths like the Elka Rhapsody and ARP Solina. With a MIDI controller connected, Soleil is capable of 4-voice paraphony, with two oscillator ranks per voice for rich tones. You can smoothly morph from sawtooth to variable pulse waves, creating everything from bright, nasally leads to enveloping pads. Add unison detuning with the detune control to dial in subtle chorus and dissonant rave chords. Add vibrato with the onboard modulation LFO, with a manual rate control and MIDI-accessible depth parameter. Envelopes are simple AD shapes, with variable stage timing and a shared, paraphonic VCA.

In addition to the 3.5mm audio output and MIDI TRS input, Soleil features a gate output which fires on each new note-on message the device receives, perfect for integrating with a Eurorack modular system. Thanks to its super portable size, Soleil is a great addition to a small desktop set up, sits pleasantly on top of another keyboard synth, and is easy to carry around for on the go jamming.
