Strymon's Timeline MX is a delay powerhouse that offers twelve delay engines—including a reverb—tons of routing options, as well as seriously beefed up internal power. If you're familiar with the original Timeline, you'll notice some familiar delay algorithms: dTape, dBucket, Digital, Reverse, Lo-fi, Ice, and Filter. With just these, you have a robust delay ecosystem that can give you excellent analog emulation along with creative effects. However, the addition of the Drum Delay, Oil Can, Multitap, and Spectral delay really turns the Timeline MX into a delay workstation that can help compose myriad types of compositions. And if all of that wasn't enough, a dedicated Reverb algorithm inspired by their Flint pedal adds that extra touch of space that makes this the perfect all-in-one pedal to add to your synth, voice, any of course guitar.

The Drum Delay takes its cues from the vintage drum machines of yore and includes the mechanical artifacts, warbling, and soft clipping that those devices imbue. Oil Can is another vintage inspired effect that gives you a darker and murkier delay with unique modulations that give you signal a very organic quality. The Multitap delay is a classic that allows you to create interesting patterns and divisions that work great with rhythmic content. Spectral Delay offers a granular delay that slices your signal into fragments, or grains, with each one able to stretch, smear, reverse, and dance all across the stereo space. If all of this wasn't enough, you can now engage two effects at once, including the reverb, so you can easily have the classic delay-reverb combo in a single pedal, but then switch to something more experimental on the fly.

One of the most important features of the original, was the built-in looper and the Timeline MX is no different. Updated to fit the robust internals, you now have a stereo five minute looper that can be placed before or after the effects. Additionally, there is now an always-available one-button mode that makes it so you don't have to switch functionality. The original also featured two Swell and Duck delay modes, however, with the MX version, those are now just normal parameters available for all algorithms. Use the Swell to soften your attack, and Duck to bring you live input to the front while pushing your delay line gently into the background.

Let this pedal fully integrate into your studio or pedalboard with the multi-function TRS jacks on the pack. Use them like a normal stereo pedal with TS cables for the left and right I/O, but you can also use TRS cables to unlock a full stereo send/return circuit. This type of flexibility, along with its incredible sound, makes the Strymon Timeline MX the end-all be-all of delay pedals.
