Steady State Fate Entity BDS

The Steady State Fate Entity BDS (Bass Drum Synthesizer) is a versatile synthesizer voice specifically oriented towards the creation of percussive synthesizer sounds. Whether the goal is percussion or analog basslines, the Entity is capable of it all.

Beneath the panel, the module is comprised of a high fidelity resonant filter, two-stage slope generator, high fidelity VCA, and discrete transistor saturation circuitry. In addition to CV governance of its filter, Entity features CV inputs for its AD envelope, saturation, ring amount, and frequency modulation parameters.

Exciting the resonant filter with a trigger signal over 2V in amplitude causes it to emit a percussive sine wave that can then be tuned via dedicated pitch controls, making it easy to produce both harmonic movements and thumping kicks. Concerning pitch range, the Entity boasts a range of 8Hz to approximately 2.2KHz, and the filter will track between three and four octaves.

The Entity’s slope generator can be implemented into the circuit using a dedicated three-way toggle switch located below the FM LVL control. The switch allows for selection between FM, FM+ENV, or ENV. There’s also a Duck output that emits a reversed envelope signal for useful effects like side chaining and compression.

The Rise/Fall section is essentially a two-stage function generator, with dedicated controls over slope timing and shaping. Concerning shaping, there are three selectable curves that can be independently applied to each of the two envelope stages: logarithmic, linear, and exponential. Each of the envelopes has been designed to retrigger at specific points, allowing for intriguing dynamic changes to pitch and amplitude whenever slope times exceed that of the output transients.

Steady State Fate Entity
The Entity, from SSF, is a module designed for low frequencies. It can function either as a bass synthesizer, or be morphed to work as a kick drum voice. It contains all the components for a full synthesizer voice, with controls to morph it from harmonic lines to epic thuds. There are CV inputs for every parameter, which includes a filter, envelope, saturation, ring amount, and frequency modulation.
