Rample Turbo from Squarp is the turbo-charged successor to their wildly powerful sampling module, providing the same formidable four-voice sampler with refined audio performance. A four-headed giant of realtime sample manipulation housed in a compact module, Rample Turbo gives you access to four channels of sample playback from an SD card. With its improved DAC, signal conditioning, and analog audio paths, the Rample Turbo takes this powerful platform to the next level, ensuring high quality audio with improved high frequency response. Noise has also been reduced significantly when no sample is playing, keeping the Rample clean and transparent in a final mix. The included updated SD card supports faster sample loading and playback, keeping beats tight and right on time.
Beyond these improvements, Rample Turbo offers the familiar interface of its predecessor with the same feature-rich sampling workflow. On each of the four channels, dedicated gate inputs allow for triggering the sample, while independent audio outputs support individual postprocessing for each channel. A separate mix output is provided with level control, which sends any signal not currently tapped from an individual output. In the LED matrix display, Rample Turbo provides clear visual indication of settings and sample status, including a VU meter for each sample and indications of CV routing, sample selection, and parameter edits. Four buttons below the matrix let you dial in settings for primary sound parameters, including a pitch shifter, bit crusher, DJ-style filter, and a glitchy freeze effect. Another group of advanced parameters are available with a double press of the buttons. This includes start point, length, envelope, and run mode that can be used to one-shot, toggle loop, or looping playback while the gate is high. Four CV inputs can be assigned to control these parameters and manipulate the samples and playback.
Rample Turbo comes with a microSD card fully loaded with samples that includes melodic material, breakbeats, and textures that can be combined, layered, and mangled using the onboard controls. Of course, you're free to add your own to the microSD card, empowering endless sonic experimentation. Samples are organized into kits; a kit is a group of four samples that are saved into 26 banks of 100 kits. Up to 12 samples can be assigned per voice. These can be played back manually, randomly cycled through, cyclical round robin, or controlled via the MIDI velocity input. Rample Turbo is fully equipped to function as a MIDI drum module with MIDI input and thru, which allows you to link multiple Ramples for even more sample sequencing. Place a Rample in a small case such as a 4ms Pod and sequence it with your external MIDI controller, no modular sequencer required.
