Schlappi Engineering Interstellar Radio

Interstellar Radio by Schappi Engineering replicates a faulty transmission line of a voltage controlled radio transceiver configured as a nasty source of noise and distortion. The module takes signals present at the input, converts them into a high-frequency pulse train with one oscillator, and then demodulates them back to audio signals with a second oscillator. Both oscillators feature non-1V/oct CV inputs for voltage-controlled aliasing, distortion, and wild frequency modulation effects. A three-way switch selects one of three types of demodulation loop, which changes the timbre and response.

With no input, a DC offset sets the carrier oscillator's frequency, letting it function as a VCO with the demodulator functioning as a modulation oscillator. The error threshold control sets a threshold for an internal comparator, which outputs a signal akin to a ring modulator. Filter out some of the harsher frequencies from the output with the tone control. Interstellar Radio takes your rack out of this world with strange and unexpected results.

Schlappi Engineering Angle Grinder & Interstellar Radio
Schlappi Engineering has two gritty and noisy eurorack modules. The Angle Grinder is a quadrature oscillator and filter with built in complex feedback paths for squaring up and distorting the signal. The Interstellar Radio modulates and then demodulates a signal with the options of adding lots of odd aliases from the transmission. This patch is sequenced with Noise Engineering modules, the Horologic Solum, Mimetic Digitalis and Zularic Repetitior. The Sinc Iter is used as the sound input for the Interstellar Radio to create a noisy snare sound. The Mutable Instruments Stages is used as five envelopes to modulate the bass sound of the Angle Grinder. Intellijel’s Quad VCA is used as VCAs and Mixers and the WMD/SSF DPLR adds a delay effect to the snare sound.
