Rupert Neve Designs The Stereo Tracking Rig

With the Rupert Neve Designs Stereo Tracking Rig, you're getting an excellent starting point for your 500 Series journey, featuring two 511 preamps and a robust R6 rack. Whether you want to give a lift to synths and samplers or begin building out a rack of preamps for tracking drums, this might be one of the best ways to dive into the world of 500 series modules.

The Rupert Neve R6 gives users one of the best tools possible for getting the most out of their 500 series modules: a competent rack with a straightforward design and loads of power. In addition to being built in accordance with 500 Series specifications, the R6 also boasts a plethora of connection options. Connections include 8 channels of balanced I/O (including XLR, TRS, and DB-25) that can be used interchangeably, making the R6 a portable and versatile option for housing 500 Series modules.

In terms of power, the R6 should have everything users need to house the allotted amount of modules. In fact, the R6 has more than double the amount of power required for a 6-space chassis, simply to ensure that the power rails perform optimally. The power supply itself is double-shielded to appropriately guard against magnetic induction. The chassis is constructed from solid steel and configurable for both horizontal and vertical applications. There's also a collapsible handle for added portability.

The Rupert Neve Designs Portico 511 is a single-channel microphone preamplifier that implements all the coveted features and usability of a larger Portico outboard rack unit into the 500-series format. The module boasts Rupert Neve's signature Silk button, for added harmonics that result in a characteristically vintage tone reminiscent of its manufacturer's early designs. While the 511 is advertised as a microphone preamplifier, it does not always have to be used in this way. Setting the gain knob at 0dB enables the module to accept line-level signals.

Additionally, the 511 can power condenser miss and active DI boxes via Phantom Power, which can be activated simply by pushing the corresponding button.

In terms of processing, the 511 features a variable high-pass filter that sweeps between 20-250 Hz. There's also an eight-segment LED meter for effectively monitoring the output.
