Plinky 12 Blocks is a collaboration between Plinky and mmalex that provides the powerful polyphonic Plinky 12 synthesis engine in a minimalist interface that can be used to create your own custom devices. Part of the Plinky 12 series of swappable panel touch synthesizers, Blocks is the perfect choice for musicians looking to perform with the Plinky 12 engine in an interface that supports an open workflow. Beyond the Plinky fun onboard, Blocks' clean and unmarked grid of 128 touch-sensitive controls can be used as a 128 Monome grid for creating customizable controllers for hardware or software devices, as well as enabling entirely customizable panel interfaces for Plinky 12 using the web-based Code Editor.

In the main firmware, Blocks offers a grid of controls that lets you perform and sequence Plinky 12's 12-voice polyphonic synth engine. This new Plinky engine generates complex wavetables from simple sounds, enabling a vast world of timbral possibilities to explore and create with. Dividing the panel into multiple blocks, you get a six-stringed play surface on the left side, and a clip launcher and XY pad on the right. The string surface is perfect for immediate touch control of Plinky's engine, while the clip launcher gives you a 128 step polyphonic sequence for each clip with performance oriented muting, shuffling, per-step probability, and all the other powerful sequencing features within Plinky 12. The XY controller allows for direct interaction with your synth timbre, enabling you to morph between two sounds smoothly.

Of course, beyond its fantastic audio engine, Plinky 12 also includes versatile connectivity for controlling external devices. Control modular synths with the two pairs of CV and Gate outputs, and connect via MIDI for a powerfully expressive controller for virtually any software or hardware instrument in your studio. Clock connectivity makes it easy to synchronize with your existing set-up, and the external input allows for processing other signals though Plinky 12's lush delay and reverb engines. There is even an onboard stereo microphone, enabling tons of creative possibilities especially for those up for creating their own devices with Blocks.
