Perfect Circuit West Coast Standard System

Perfect Circuit's West Coast Standard system is a complete instrument for exploring the colorful sounds of West Coast synthesis. Whether invoking the effervescent arpeggios of Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith or the expressive textures of Todd Barton, this system is an ideal easel for the modern synthesist’s craft.

The system's audio path comprises a handful of some of the finest tools in the Eurorack format. The Make Noise DPO is a dual analog oscillator with waveshaping and built-in complex modulation path. Deeply inspired by the Buchla 259 but with its own quirks and tricks, the DPO is an ideal choice for complex waveshaping and deep, dynamic frequency modulation. The Befaco A*B+C acts as a ring modulator, VCA, and peculiar nonlinear waveshaper as well as offering a host of handy voltage processing functions. The Make Noise LxD offers two different flavors of lowpass gate, excellent for rubbery percussive sounds or extended plucks. The Erica Synths Pico DSP adds a layer of signal processing, ideal for adding in delays, reverbs, and more, while the Erica Pico Output allows direct connection to headphones, audio interfaces, or live sound PA. A Mutable Instruments Ears acts as an external input to the system, allowing for direct connection of other instruments for processing, envelope following, or triggering the system. Ears's built-in contact mic can also act as an interesting source of control information.

Of course, this system's control voltage capabilities are just as powerful as its sound generation modules. The Frap Tools Sapel, modeled after the classic Buchla 266 Source of Uncertainty, offers clocks and a huge variety of random voltages, while the XAOC Devices Tirana acts as a Music Easel-like short step sequencer. Make Noise's Maths is a versatile tool for CV processing and generation: modeled after Serge's Dual Universal Slope Generator, it is capable of envelopes, LFOs, analog logic, mixing, filtering, envelope following, and more. The ARC Serge Dual Processor and A*B+C provide CV signals a huge amount of variability, enabling one to combine, twist, and hone control within the system. And of course, the Intellijel uMIDI enables connection of the system to MIDI gear.

The West Coast Standard system is a sonic experimenter's playground: from the plucky pulses of Morton Subotnick to the cascading sequences of Suzanne Ciani, this system is capable of an enormous range of classic, organic electronic tones.
