Perfect Circuit Rhythm Series Core System

Perfect Circuit's Rhythm Series Core is a full Eurorack modular synthesizer system that delivers expansive sounds with a tiny footprint. Housed in an Erica Pico Case, this instrument’s appearance may be misleading: despite its size, it is a powerhouse for making rhythmically-oriented music with all the flexibility of modular synthesis.

The system's core is comprised of three tremendously flexible and sonically distinct modules: the Basimilus Iteritas Alter, Plonk, and Pico Drums. Noise Engineering’s Basimilus Iteritas Alter is a hallmark of Eurorack’s flexibility: an additive synthesizer voice capable of everything from deep kicks, punchy snares, and crisp hats to full-blown, edgy bass and melodic sounds. With carefully planned modulation or just experimentation, this module can produce the sounds of an entire, edgy drum kit and beyond. Intellijel’s Plonk takes a different approach: by creating digital “models” of acoustic instruments, it is capable of producing a wide variety of both uncannily real and starkly impossible sounds. While it contains an enormous number of presets for everything from plucked strings to marimbas to bells, it excels at percussive sounds and allows several interesting options for dynamic preset recall and randomization. The Erica Synths Pico Drums is a dual one-shot sample player that comes loaded with 64 high-quality drum samples, from classic 808-like sounds to more aggressive digital tones.

Despite its size, the system is also capable of very powerful sequencing. The Malekko Varigate 4+ is a four-channel probability-based gate and note sequencer with a huge number of options for rhythmic variation. Capable of polyrhythm, per-step stuttering note repeats, built-in gate delay, and more, it is an excellent choice for creating nuanced rhythms with ease. It can also be used to provide pitch sequences to the BIA or Plonk, enabling the creation of bass lines or melodies to play in time with your rhythmic sequence.

Featuring tremendously powerful sound generators and nuanced sequencing, the Rhythm Series Core is a sonic chameleon capable of a huge range of sounds. Excellent as an introduction to modular synthesis or a small expansion to an existing Euro rig, the Rhythm Station Core is ready to add some groove to any setup.
