Mayer EMI has minified their MD900 and created a stereo 24-voice, four-part multitimbral desktop synthesizer powerhouse with the Vibes MD850. Constructed to be an all-in-one performance and compositional tool, not only is there an impressive array of playable voices, but an integrated clip launcher and dedicated drum part makes organizing your ideas a breeze. Centered around a robust 5" 800x480 px display, you can clearly adjust your sounds, route your modulations and see your clips' MIDI notes with a simple touch or press of a button. Easily create new variations of your voice by using the One Knob that will morph any/all parameters seamlessly from one group of settings to the next.

Each of the four synth voices parts features three oscillators: two algorithmic and one noise/sample-based. Use these three in a blend to create the perfect unique timbre for your project. The two algorithmic oscillators have a sizable library of wavetables to choose from, a set of basic algorithmic shapes, and a resonator oscillator for physical modeling. The Wavetable has a gorgeous 3D view that lets you see the entire plane and has indicators for position modulation, which is fantastic for finetuning complex modulations. Use the noise/sample oscillator to create immersive atmospheres and load in your own samples for acoustic presets. Sculpt your sound with ease thanks to the dedicated filter cutoff, resonance and filter amount encoders. Each of the two filters have multiple modeling options from Korg to Moog to SEM styled options with plenty of options to customize. Load up your own percussion sounds or use the built-in kits on the dedicated Drum part which gives you up to 14 different slots to load samples.

Once you've tweaked to your heart's content, you can start to construct your tune using the Clip section that gives you familiar columns that can hold MIDI phrases for each of the four parts, the drum track and also two external MIDI outputs for sequencing external devices. Capable of handling up to 19 stereo channels, not only can you sequence your externals but you can also process and mix your entire setup with input-only effects as well as two effect buses.
