Acting like a brilliant volume control over vocals, bass, and tons of other sounds, the Manley ELOP+ is their redefined electro-optical compressor/limiter bringing with it clear and smooth dynamic wrangling. Inspired by the fan-favorite LA-2A, the ELOP+ brings two channels of Manley's optical dynamic control with all-tube amplification and output staging, made with their high-voltage design for extreme amounts of headroom. Starting out, the ELOP+ takes in a balanced XLR signal, applies Manley's famous IRON transformer, and then sends the signal on its way to the compression stage.
On the front panel, you have a very simple layout for controlling the actual compression and limiting applied: reduction and gain. Each channel applies individual controls for each, but putting the ELOP into Linked mode via the Link/Stereo button applies equal gain reduction across both channels! Whether you're using the ELOP+ as a compressor with a 3:1 ratio or a limiter with a 10:1 ratio, the dynamic control never darkens the sound and keeps the highs bright and alive. Each channel additionally has control for a 1-pole high pass filter at 80Hz to apply to the sidechain circuit for cleaned up ducking and dynamic control, and level-matching or mix referencing is easy with the per channel hardware bypass buttons.
