Maneco Labs Sixteen Seconds Delay Vintage Compact
An old school digital classic is reborn in a streamlined package with the Maneco Labs Sixteen Seconds Vintage Compact Delay, bringing you a small format version of the famously strange early digital delay from EHX. The first effect to blend delay and looping functionality through the implementation of digital memory, the circuit is entirely analog aside from digital storage at the heart of its unique capabilities. While lacking the original's metronomic click output and external footswitch controls, the Sixteen Seconds Compact delivers the same rich modulated delay sounds and performative always-on loop recording, bringing this unique and cherished technology into modern hands and pedalboards.
In fast mode, the digital memory offers its eponymous sixteen seconds of recording space, with thirty-two available in slow mode. The Sixteen Seconds is a devoted listener, and commits your playing to memory whether you have the effect engaged or not, continually replacing the recorded buffer as you play. The coarse delay control affects the size of this recording buffer, while the fine control adjusts sample rate for smooth time and pitch changes. Feedback and blend adjust the amount of repeats and the dry/wet balance respectively, while a triangle LFO with frequency and depth controls offers modulation over your delay sample rate.
The reverse switch flips the playback direction of the audio recorded into the buffer, offering a memory of your recent musical past in reverse. This unique implementation is different from other reverse delays that immediately reverse your input signal, offering interesting musical possibilities that connect distant moments in a performance. Likewise, the Infinite switch locks the recorded memory buffer, turning the pedal into a looper. Since the pedal is always recording, you can engage these loops at any moment, which one reason why the pedal has been beloved by improvisers in particular. With endless creative possibilities like these to explore and a form factor that fits on any pedalboard, the Sixteen Seconds Vintage Compact Delay from Maneco Labs is a no-brainer for any effects rig.
