Making Sound Machines Plinky+

Reimagined by Making Sound Machines, Plinky+ contains all the elements that made the original so special, now in a significantly larger form factor. The first Plinky made waves by being an extremely expansive, extremely portable open-source synthesizer and sampling engine. While the original's size was certainly a benefit for portability, for some its touch-controlled interface begged for more space. This new version satisfies this call for finger room, offering a much larger control surface for more performance potential. This expanded surface area adds even deeper expression capabilities to Plinky's gesture-based parameter interaction, giving you more freedom to explore its touch-sensitive panel. Plinky+ now houses its Eurorack outputs on its back panel, along with 1/4" outputs and a dedicated volume knob on the front panel. The OLED screen has been updated as well, now much larger and easier to read at a distance.

Otherwise, the Plinky+ contains all the same functionality as the original V3. An 8-voice polyphonic touch synthesizer engine with 64 individual pads, arranged in 8 monophonic columns for string-like interaction. Its synth engine contains all the original functionality, including its deep sampling capabilities, which shine extra bright with the extended gesture range on the Plinky+. The expanded size also contributes to the expressiveness of Plinky+'s resonant lowpass gates, giving you more space to explore how the touch sensors affect the timbre of Plinky's sound. While a larger control surface is certainly a nice upgrade for most gear, the touch-based nature of Plinky makes this improvement more than just an aesthetic improvement.
