Packing quite the punch for a single rack-mount unit, Maag Audio's MAGNUM-K is a dual compressor, two-band EQ, and limiter rolled into one box. The Magnum multiband compressor has a selectable compression range from four to 16 dB, and up to 13:1 compression ratio. There's also a handy high-pass filter available for the sidechain signal, filtering out low frequencies from 40 to 220 Hz, or optionally selecting an external source for juicy pumps or delicately controlling the level of a backing part with a prominent source. The following K-Comp circuit hones in around 3 kHz, with a simple one knob interface to increase the amount of compression to reduce some of the edge and harsh qualities of the input sound. Running in parallel to the compression circuits, the two band EQ2 provides a Low Mid Frequency boost with a wide or tight bell slope, and Maag Audio's signature Air Band high-shelf boost. At the end of the signal path lies a makeup gain control and a soft limiter for boosting or reigning in signals beyond your desired output level. Each section of the MAGNUM-K may be individually bypassed, along with a global true bypass switch.
