Part of the panel-swappable series of instruments developed in collaboration with mmalex, Plinky 12 features an all new synthesizer engine that creates unique tones from simple sounds, using wavetables to generate expansive and lush timbres that can morph and evolve under your fingertips. In Chords, you get this synth engine with an interface optimized for harmonic and melodic improvisation, with expressive control over chord voicing, harmonic movement, and melodic development.

The Plinky 12 Chords splits its 12-voice polyphony in equal measure for chordal and melodic parts, with six voices dedicated for either musical modality. 13 palettes each with 45 chords are provided on the playable panel surface, offering a cornucopia of musical possibilities waiting to be discovered, arranged, and made your own. Sequence chords with the 128 step sequencer to shape unique progressions, with powerfully flexible features like individual track length, modulo, probability, pattern generation, and shuffle enabling complex patterns.

For melodic content, you can use the four polyphonic melody surfaces to perform melodies that dynamically adjust to match the harmonic progression underneath. Chromatic playing, scale-quantized notes, dynamic arpeggios, and suggested harmonies are provided in these four melody surfaces, enabling diverse musical moves. Across all the sounds you create, Plinky 12 lets you use unique sounds for bass, treble, and melody parts, creating rich ensemble textures. Use the XY modulation controls to shift each sound between two sets of parameter settings, and add spatialization and intrigue with the lush onboard Tape Delay and Shimmer Reverb FX. Naturally, Plinky 12's versatile connectivity is still in play, allowing you to break out the powerful harmonic and melodic sequencing features to control up to two sets of CV/Gate controlled voices or up to four external MIDI devices.
