Kinotone Sparks

Sparks from Kinotone is a stereo harmonic processor pedal delivering both additive and subtractive control over your tone's harmonic content, with synth-inspired modulation sources to give sounds motion and depth. A fully analog signal path accentuates any sound source you put through it, with advanced digital control to precisely dial in sweet spots and experiment with flexible modulation. In addition to this expressive effect, Sparks also includes a four-voice SID-chip inspired synthesizer you can play via MIDI.

Packing an incredible amount of features under a compact guitar pedal panel, each control on Sparks provides access to multiple parameters, with simple navigation between black, white, and hidden synth parameters via the Layer button. Use the distortion controls to sweep between soft-clipping saturation and full-on 4-stage wavefolding, with input gain, output level, low cut, and even a gate control to create the perfect tone and response as you play. For taming those enriched timbres, a state variable filter is provided with continuously variable mode, cutoff, and resonance capable of self-oscillation.

Get these competent spectral shapers moving with an onboard LFO and envelope follower, both of which may be mapped to any and/or multiple parameters using the simple Map button. Each parameter knob acts as an attenuverter when mapped, letting you get the precise amount of modulation to your taste. Further adjust LFO behavior with Rate, Range, and Shape controls, and add phase separation for stereophonic effects with Spin. For performative modulation, use the envelope follower to adjust parameters along with your input signal's amplitude. Controls for the envelope follower include attack and sensitivity settings, as well as multiple modes to change the envelope's response to your playing.

Kinotone's expansive effects often hide away entire synths inside, and Sparks is no different. Plug in a MIDI controller, and enjoy the classic sound of a four-voice SID-chip synth, inspired by the synth engine in the Commodore 64. Controls for synth parameters are on a third, unmarked layer, letting you adjust waveform type, ADSR, ring mod, and more. Of course, you can process these sounds through the main effects within Sparks, letting you tame the gritty digital sounds with the filter or lean in for skronk-friendly saturated lo-fi bliss. With this much functionality and applications abounding for all types of sound sources, Sparks from Kinotone is sure to spark joy for pedalboard junkies, signal-chain experimentalists, DAW-focused producers, and more.
