The Hexinverter Mutant Snare is an analog drum synthesizer providing a versatile palette for creating crisp and crackling snare sounds. Mutant Snare takes as its point of departure the classic topology from the legendary TR-808, combining a noise source with sinewave oscillators to create the snap and shell tones of classic snare sounds. Departing from this circuit, Mutant Snare lets you take your drum design further, with multiple filter modes to shape sounds and an external input to replace the snappy noise source. Capable of a wide range of snare sounds from refined snaps to crackling cacophony, the Mutant Snare from Hexinverter is a fantastic addition to any groove-friendly modular system.

Mutant Snare Features

• Analog snare drum synthesizer voice
• Combines bridged-t sinewave oscillators (shell) with noise source (snappy) for classic snare tones
• Blend two sinewaves with the tone control
• Adjust sinewave pitch with Shell pitch
• Add noise with Snappy control, or replace noise with the external input
• CV control over snappy decay
• Selectable high-pass or band-pass filter for snappy with CV control
• Multiple filter resonance settings: classic 808, high resonance, and self-oscillation
• Snappy envelope or adjustable sinewave can be normalled to control cutoff CV using jumpers on back of module
