Possibly the most intense chug machine ever conceived, the Codename X81 from Ghost Note Audio is a high gain preamp and distortion pedal with a complete disregard for pleasantries. Inspired by the legendary Valvestate 8100, this pedal pushes that design philosophy far beyond its intended ceiling to create a supremely hard hitting sound. This mutation of the iconic 8100 sound offers a plethora of different controls, making both the Distortion and Preamp mode capable of a wide spectrum of different timbres. It includes a three-band tone stack along with the familiar Contour knob for even deeper control over the shape of your sound. The discrete Volume and Gain knobs allow you to dial in the perfect gain staging, regardless of where the pedal sits in your signal chain. On top of all that, there's an additional Boost knob which corresponds to the secondary footswitch for adding bursts of energy to your performances whenever the moment calls for it. Each footswitch is built with soft-touch technology, meaning their state will persist even after power cycling. An additional control input is provided for use with external controls, allowing you to interact with various functions throughout the pedal without the need to get your hands directly on the controls.
