The Fredenstein Artistic Comp SE is a single-channel 500 series FET compressor that offers a musical response with plenty of detail. Using their proprietary Reverse-Mancini FET architecture, it captures the feeling of classic analog compression while introducing controls like Wet/Dry mix and three-position side-chain filter. Instead of a traditional threshold knob, the Artistic Comp SE uses input gain to control the amount, resulting in a more organic, program-dependent response. In addition to its familiar compression controls, the unit features a three-step Attack Time switch, variable Release control, and a compression ratio that ranges from gentle 2:1 to a slamming 20:1.
