Flight of Harmony Plague Bearer

While Flight of Harmony's Plague Bearer fits broadly into the category of a filter module, it defies this narrow definition of its behavior. It filters signals, but it also distorts, phase warps, mangles, and adds unexpected timbre to anything patched into it. Don't expect typical filter behavior from this unruly module. In terms of filtering, its behavior is similar to that of a bandpass filter. However, rather than having a single knob to control the filter cutoff, it features both high and low controls. These two controls and their corresponding CV inputs adjust the upper and lower parts of the bandpass filter, narrowing the range of frequencies that pass through the module.

Gain sets the final output gain of the module. The gain CV input is inverted, so increasing the voltage level from zero actually reduces the gain of the filter. Use an envelope follower to duck the signal or create a crude (and rude) compressor. Plague Bearer doesn't include a dedicated resonance control, however, the gain, high, and low controls all affect the resonance. The Plague Bearer features both an input attenuation control as well as a three position switch to adjust the amount of attenuation (-0dB, -20dB, and -40dB). Input signals with lower levels give Plague Bearer a greater range of possible sounds and timbre shaping. With nothing patched into the inputs and gain maxed out, Plague Bearer self oscillates, creating howling sine wave oscillations. While you won't get your standard filter behavior from Plague Bearer, you get a deep well of sonic sickness and evil distortion.
