Four Seas from Ferry Island Modular is a wavetable oscillator that enables hands-on exploration of vast sonic spaces, with unique spread controls that manipulate four outputs. Dubbed a "four-dimensional wavetable oscillator", the Four Seas presents wavetables as a three-dimensional cube, with dedicated controls for X, Y, and Z position. A single position set by these controls is sent to the first output, and is further extrapolated using the spread controls which create offset positions for the three additional outputs. This unique implementation of wavetable sound design allows you to target a specific position in the wavetable, then create additional related timbres which are spread around the initial position, delivering deeply rich sounds with distinctly cohesive characters. While the X, Y, and Z spread controls adjust these timbral positions, a global spread control with multiple modes controls frequency offsets of each additional output, enabling additive synthesis-style sound design, distinct four voice chords, and more.

A paragon of timbral flexibility, Four Seas provides a bank knob and CV input which selects from up to twelve three-dimensional wavetable spaces. In addition to the factory provided set of diverse wavetables, additional sets can be downloaded from Ferry Island Modular's website, or you can even create your own for a completely customizable experience. Stored on SD cards, the banks can even be hot-swapped during performance, empowering incredible timbral flexibility. Fine and coarse tuning controls as well as dedicated V/Oct and FM inputs allow for exacting and automated control over frequency and timbre, with a lockable tuning knob that ensures worry-free stability in a live performance environment. In the frequency spread section, multiple modes of algorithmic spread provide diverse harmonic and inharmonic ratios to explore, perfect for everything from metallic and noisy percussion to lush chordal drones.

Dedicated modulation controls provide onboard movement and nuance to your sounds. Two oscillator mod buttons select between modulation modes for affecting the oscillator phase from the two audio inputs, with the left controlling output 1 and the right dedicated to output 3. Thru-zero phase modulation, phase-distortion waveshaping, and fixed-point scalar underflow modes provide versatile methods for timbral expansion, with simple LED color display providing visual indication of mode selection. Outputs 1 and 3 can also be synchronized with hard, soft, and phase shift sync modes. Finally, each oscillator pair can be set to LFO mode, enabling complex LFO shapes that can be especially rewarding when self patching back into Four Seas many CV inputs.
