Thanks to its sample based design, the seven voices in Bullfrog Drums can be used for any sound, from lively drums and percussion to synth stabs and dub chords. Onboard the device are seven banks of factory samples from Richie Hawton and Erica Synths, with up to 16 total banks available for user samples, and a total of 64 Mb sample memory. Collect your favorite sounds and save them into four banks of 16 individual kits. With a kit loaded in, you get hands-on control for each voice's level for live mixing, while parametric controls for pitch, decay, loop point, filter cutoff and resonance, drive, and panning let you shape sounds with precision.

Bullfrog Drums features a formidable xOx style step sequencer onboard that makes it easy and fun to create rhythmic patterns on the fly. Each pattern contains 16 steps for each track, though these steps can be repeated up to four times with the Master Length setting, up to 64 total steps. Up to 64 patterns can be saved into four banks of 16 for on demand recall in a live environment, letting you create full compositions and perform live sets on the device. Add ratchets, probabilities, and microtiming for deep groove and complex beats, while parameter locking and automation per track lets your sequenced voices go far beyond static, one-shot sounds. Playing directions can let you instantly create variations on a pattern, flipping from forward order to reverse, ping-pong, In addition to sequencing the onboard voices, you can use Bullfrog Drums to control CV synths and MIDI gear externally using its CV/Gate sequencer output and full MIDI input and output via 5-Pin DIN or USB.
