Bridging a gap between the worlds of DJ gear and modular synthesizers, Erica Synths' Black DJ VCF is a combination lowpass and highpass filter module that draws heavy influence from the filters found on DJ decks. The Black DJ VCF is wide-open at its middle position, but turn it to the left to begin applying lowpass filtering, while the highpass filter is found on the right side. These filters are commonly used for isolating elements of different tracks, but the unique topology leads to interesting applications within a modular synthesis environment, especially when control voltages are applied.
