Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2 is the last word in the long adored lineage of Electro-Harmonix' dual op-amp fuzz/distortion pedals—now packing more muscle, heft, and versatility than ever before. Any experienced Muff user will feel right at home with the familiar controls for VOLUME, TONE and SUSTAIN. The updated version keeps the midrange-forward design that set the original apart, fortified with surgically precise MIDS LEVEL and FREQ controls, a Hi/Lo Q switch to set how broad or narrow that midrange sits, and a dedicated footswitch to drop the whole mids section in and out. Now you can also sweep through the MIDS frequencies with an external expression pedal or CV source, turning the stompbox into something of a gnarly fuzz-wah.

Among the tune-ups are a new BLEND control that mixes clean signal back in to keep pick attack and low end intact, an adjustable GATE to rein in hiss at high-gain settings, and a three-position WICKER switch—OFF, HALF and FULL—which opens up the high end for extra brightness and presence, especially handy for darker tones. The bypass footswitch works latching or momentary, too: click it for normal on/off, or press and hold for a momentary stab of fuzz. Moreover, you'll find a trimmer pot under the hood to add extra gain and distortion if you like things really spicy. All in all, this is a massive enhancement on an already-loved classic.
