Developed in collaboration with Lee Kiernan of Idles, Earthquaker Devices presents their fuzzy friend Gary, a dynamic duo of pulse width modulated fuzz and a natural overdrive in a compact form factor. Originally inspired by Lee Kiernan's request to revisit and reimagine the lauded Gray Channel, Gary evolved from these simple beginnings to become a fully realized self, joined together in unholy union and asymmetric duality.

Gary's double-double distortion stack starts off with a unique pulse-width modulated fuzz circuit, which dramatically tears at the heart of your signal by forcing it into a square-wave shape. Dynamic destruction is where Gary's right side shines, featuring a transient-activated envelope which controls the duty cycle or "pulse width" of your squared-off signal. Increase the sensitivity of the envelope with the YES! control, and set the final output gain with OOSH. This pinches off the frequency content of Gary to grow more nasally as the pulse width decreases, all the way to total cut-out, creating end-of-life amp sounds perfect for your skronk-forward pursuits. Add an expression pedal to sweep this effect manually for discrete control.

Cool off your tone post-PWM fuzz with Gary's left side, featuring a smooth and natural overdrive to lift your blown out tone into livelier territory and drive into your amp for additional break-up. Like many things in life, this ending is where it all started, as the left side overdrive is based on the green channel of EQD's Gray Channel, with the diodes bypassed like Lee prefers. Set the opamp drive with the GO control from from a nice clean boost to a full-bodied distortion, and set the master level with the That's It knob. Use Gary's two sides together or separately with true-bypass, silent Flexi-Switch technology.
