The EarthQuaker Devices Cloven Hoof is their acclaimed Hoof pedal’s alter-ego. As its name suggests, the pedal is decidedly more corrupt and malicious than its counterpart. It keeps the consistency and clarity of the Hoof, as well as the pedal’s glorious fuzz sounds, cruelly dispensing with everything else. Rather than the Hoof’s Germanium transistors, the Cloven Hoof opts for Silicon transistors, resulting in increased gain, more transparent cleans, more reliable temperature stability, and an unruly fuzz tone that’s even louder than its counterpart’s. All this makes the pedal as particularly wicked when used in tandem with a bass guitar.
