The discrete Attack and Release controls allow you to dial in the perfect feel on your master, while the Shape control affects the contours of every parameter to give the compression a harder or softer feel. Mitigate the "pumping" produced by bass-heavy frequency content with the HPF control, allowing you to focus only on compressing the upper frequency range of the mix.
