Famed for conceiving the Eurorack format, Doepfer are primarily recognized for their synthesizer hardware, which includes modular systems, MIDI controllers, MIDI sequencers, MIDI-to-CV interfaces, and specialized MIDI devices. Without a doubt, Doepfer possesses the most extensive offering of modules available from any manufacturer, with over 200 modules in all!

Founder Dieter Döpfer began developing hardware in the late ‘70s. From there, his focus throughout much of the ‘80s centered on MIDI equipment. In 1992, Döpfer collaborated with electronic music legends Kraftwerk to develop the MAQ16/3, a MIDI-equipped analog sequencer. Doepfer’s designs have inspired a myriad of artists and engineers alike, with several Eurorack manufacturers candidly citing Doepfer products as the reason they ventured into the business in the first place. Some of their most acclaimed modules include the A-119 External Input/Envelope Follower, A-124 VCF5 Wasp Filter (based on the filter circuit from Electronic Dream Plant’s EDP Wasp), the A-152 Voltage Addressed T&H/Switch, the A-178 Theremin Control Voltage Source, and the A-196 Phase Locked Loop.
