The A-198-2 Ribbon Controller module from Doepfer is an interface module for Doepfer's Trautonium ribbon controller, allowing you to break out CV and gate information for use in your Eurorack synthesizer. In this module-only version, the A-198-2 offers a great way to upgrade your extant A-198-1 set-up, offering full compatibility with the original controller with even more ways to use position and pressure data to control your favorite modular and MIDI devices. Now boasting an OLED screen for easy configuration and visualisation of control data, the A-198-2 offers a great way to control your modular system. The addition of greater quantization options and optional MIDI output also extends it beyond the capabilities of its predecessor, sure to bring a ton of new creative possibilities to established ribbon rockers everywhere.

Setting up the A-198-2 is simple, using the series of nine momentary switches in Config mode to adjust quantizations for the pressure and position sensors in the manual controller. Set your ranges and scale quantization to taste, and the controller can provide two CV control sources and two gates, allowing for comprehensive control of multiple elements in a patch simultaneously. A QNT input allows you to use CV to switch between quantized and non-quantized CV1 voltages, while the jack below it can be configured either as a retrigger on/off input switch or 3.5mm TRS MIDI output for controlling MIDI capable synths.
