Doepfer's A-100 Basic System 1 is a formidable system for exploring the power and sheer flexibility of analog modular synthesis, offering a well-thought-out 6U Eurorack system capable of drones, leads, basslines, and staright-up noise. Offering all the key building blocks a typical synth voice and some added special peculiarities, this system can produce classic monosynth sounds and edgy textures not possible in most fixed-path synthesizers. With Two dedicated oscillators, a filter based on the Oberheim XPander, and two VCAs, the key signal path is all there: add in the A-115 audio divider, A-116 voltage-controllable Waveform Processor, A-118 Noise Source, and a powerful host of control voltage sources and processors, and this system breaches far beyond the capabilities of most monosynths. A perfect system for classic analog synth lovers and sonic experimenters alike, there are few if any classier ways to approach modular synthesis than the A-100 Basic System 1.
