DJ Stretch Armstrong No Sleep
No Sleep is a book curated by DJ Stretch Armstrong that is aimed to capture the essence of New York nightlife and club culture in the decade between the late 80’s and late 90’s. The book is entirely comprised of images of flyers that were a popular means of spreading the information about parties, and club events. The flyers were being printed in high quantities and freely distributed by any means possible on street corners, in retail shops, at club themselves, and other places up until the sudden displacement of the medium by the internet. In the recent years the flyers from the era became a very sought after collector’s item. DJ Stretch Armstrong outsourced the collection presented in the book from the personal archives of club promoters, artists, DJs, and clubbers. The book is a magnificent visual history of an era capturing the unique energy of a particular time and place.
