The Add1 from CG Products is a two-channel precision adder, but performs a variety of tasks including summing, subtracting, and comparing voltages. While both the top and the bottom act as voltage summers, the two channels each include secondary functions that set them apart. The top channel features three inputs, while the bottom includes two. The third input on the top channels passes through an attenuverter. The attenuverter gives you the ability to adjust the level of the third input +/-1.5x the input level. In this way, the knob performs three functions depending how you set it; reducing the level of the signal, boosting it above unity gain, and inverting the polarity of the signal. A switch gives you three options for the level of the final output gain. The three output level settings are unity gain, a 50% reduction in output level, and two times amplification.

The bottom channel performs one of two functions on the input signals. It also sums the two input channels, but also provides offset, moving the center position either positively or negatively from 0 depending on the V Polarity switch setting. In addition to voltage summing, the bottom section also functions as a comparator. A comparator is a logic circuit that evaluates voltages and outputs either a high or low voltage, converting continuous voltages to pulse waves. However, instead of comparing the two input voltages against each other, Add1 sums them and then compares that voltage level against a threshold. If the sum of the two input voltages passes above the threshold set by the voltage knob, the module outputs a high signal, otherwise the output is low. This precision adder is much more than a simple summing mixer, but provides you with a powerful utility toolbox.
