Blue Lantern Simple Dual NJMVCA
The Blue Lantern Simple Dual NJMVCA is a compact VCA module designed for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer systems. The module takes its name from its internal IC chip, the NJM13700 OTA, which is used in classic synthesizers made by Moog, Roland, Yamaha, and more. While this module does not use the same chip, it does feature a recreation constructed in Japan.Â
Each channel features an input volume and adjustment knob. The audio input has enough gain for easy overdrive, and a corresponding CV knob fine-tunes the level of voltage control. Additionally, users can achieve stereo panning simply by patching an LFO into the corresponding input.Â
This Simple Dual differs from the Blue Lantern Stereoscopic VCA in the way to colors the sound. Since the module is OTA based, it offers a distinctive flavor when overdriven. This allows for a characteristically vintage sound.
