The Skis by Bastl Instruments is a dual decay VCA module for use in Eurorack synthesizer systems. The module features two channels, A and B, each consisting of a envelope with dedicated knob control and a corresponding VCA. The envelope is activated via trigger signals, and the envelope’s buffered output is normalized to the input of the VCA. A special Crunch switch activates a lo-fi VCA circuit, adding a characteristically crunchy effect that changes in accordance with the envelope’s decay. The module’s sections can be used together for the creation of drum sounds, or independently for whatever suits the synthesist’s personal style.
Dual decay envelope with adjustable decay time (trigger input, CV output)
Dual vca (signal IN, signal OUT, CV IN is normalized to CV output of decay envelope)
Crunch feature inspired by circuits of Standa Filip
Jumpers for changing the decay envelope to release envelope (vca is on full while there is a gate signal and than it decays)
Jumpers for enabling the decay knob to completely mute the decay envelope
Jumpers for selecting weird filtering of the output signal (also inspired by Standa Filip)
