Whether you need a VCA, low pass filter, or both, look no further than AI Synthesis' AI017 LPG, a low pass gate with tons of controls for making leads and basses to booming percussion. Inspired by the amazing character of the Buchla 200 series low pass gate, the beloved Model 292, the AI017 is a wonderful 3-in-1 module that can give you those classic Buchla bongos in the LPG mode or supply you with a fantastic filter or VCA! Audio routed into the AI017 can be attenuated before it hits the next stage for proper gain staging, while the output amplitude, frequency, or both is determined by the Level control.

Introducing resonance in VCF or LPG mode will give you anywhere from a slight boost at the cutoff to a very ringy and unwieldy sound. Control the cutoff via the two vactrol CV inputs, with the second one attenuated for more subtle modulation while the first CV input brings the classically smooth pluck and bongo sound we love in LPGs. To tame the low frequencies that ring out in older LPGs, AI Synthesis incorporated a Depth control and switch for applying a negative offset on the Level control, making percussive yet precise tones.
