4MS’s Dual Looping Delay module was inspired by classic digital delays that were popular in the late ‘70s through the ‘80s. However, the goal of the DLD is not to serve as a mere emulation of PT2399 or Tape Delays. The module does not contain any pitch variation features and all time manipulation is cut against a precise digital clock that maintains the original signal’s harmonic stability. The module’s looping functionality brings something similar to the Lexicon PCM42 Delay unit to the Eurorack modular realm, meaning there is CV control over almost every parameter.
The DLD’s inherently digital character renders it ideal for processing and looping audio. As users send more and more audio to the module’s buffer, the loops that have been present for the longest time will begin to fade away, creating a textured atmosphere of constant shifting and layering. Additionally, each channel can be programmed to a precise division of the master clock, meaning users can set each channel to a different division for ping pong style delay effects.
