This sequel maintains all the magic that made the original so special, while bringing significant improvements to the hardware, OS, UI, and sound engine. The improvements start with the screen, now measuring in at 4" with a high resolution display, ideal when using the touchscreen functionality. One of the most practical upgrades comes in the form of the battery, which is now fully rechargeable via the USB-C port, making it one of the most powerful portable samplers out there. The OS has undergone a substantial improvements, with an overall more performance-forward design with Launch, Scene, Song, Mixing and Effects screens getting a Bento-style upgrade with more immediate and playable controls. The sampling engine has gotten a substantial overhaul, offering a brand new Track screen which allows for loading up to four instances of the Loop, Slicer, One-Shot or Multisample instruments, with the Loop and One-Shot instruments supporting 16 samples per-patch.

The effects engine has gotten a substantial overhaul as well, providing Bento-style performance improvements, along with expanded routing capabilities; freely route and reroute your effects to create lush, complex musical gestures. The Blackbox 2 can be internally resampled, meaning no external gear is required to build samples on top of each other, giving access to new dimensions of sampling potential. The sequencer is equipped with a several distinct sequencing methods for track creation with Step, Grid / Piano roll, and Probability behaviors available. This variety of control over your tracks allows for you deep sound design and powerful performance-based sessions, all of which are savable to the microSD card slot.
